Annual Bloodwork and Urinalysis

Why is it important?

  • Pets can’t tell us when they don’t feel well. A healthy-appearing pet may be hiding symptoms of a disease or aliment. For example, a pet can lose up to 75% of kidney function before showing any visible signs of illness. Testing helps us evaluate your pet’s health early.
  • Early detection and treatment of a disease or ailment can often be the difference between a negative or positive outcome.
  • These tests provide baseline levels for your pet and become part of his or her medical record for future reference if something were to change with their health.

Here at Green Cove Pet Hospital we have state of the art equipment to run in-house, thorough Blood Chemistries, perform Complete Blood Counts, and perform digital Urinalysis.

If your pet has an illness or requires long term medication, more frequent bloodwork screenings may be needed to monitor how their body is handling the stress of disease or metabolizing their long term medication.
